The Key Stage 3 Economic Well-Being and Financial Capability curriculum seeks to develop pupils’ understanding of the world of work, business and how to manage their money effectively. Through this pupils can learn to understand different business environments and consider their use of money as consumers of a range of goods and services. It enables them to understand and explain financial terms and products. Enterprise activities can be used to develop pupils’ capability to manage money and understand risks and rewards.

Up-to-date examples of businesses can be helpful when teaching this as they provide proof and also they can provide ideas and inspiration for a student setting up their own business.
Through incorporating aspects of business, finance and economic understanding into the curriculum, pupils have an opportunity to gain insight that will support them in the future and may lead to an interest in pursuing Business Studies at Key Stage 4 as a subject in its own right.
